Case Details
This 73 year-old Fort Worth woman had 350 ml silicone gel breast implants placed 10 years previously. A breast ultrasound indicated her left breast implant was ruptured. Dr. Kunkel removed her implants and the surrounding scar tissue capsules (‘capsulectomies’). Both of her implants were found to be intact, not ruptured. This case is one in which the diagnostic breast imaging done before surgery showed there was a rupture, but rupture was not found at the time of surgery. While that is fairly uncommon, it does happen from time to time. New 350 ml silicone gel implants were placed during her surgery. *Keep in mind that each person is unique, and individual results will vary.
